Horse Riding in California - Trekking in the Sunshine State

Horse Riding in California

California is a great state for horse riding. Riding your horse through California's golden hills in the heart of Gold Country must be one great experience. Western horseback rides are available with top quality horses, and riders at all levels of experience are welcome.

Horseback ride into the Old West! All trail rides are guided and range from beginner to advanced. Expect prices (2010) of about $35 for the first hour and $30 for each additional hour (3 hour max) and $45 for private rides. Children 7 years and up are usually welcome, but may only be allowed on the shortest rides.

Here's info on the last place you can trail ride by yourself without a guide if you want to! There are rivers to cross, lots of wildlife, and I really love going out at night (no dust, no flies, & it is very quiet!).

Burney Mountain Guest Ranch is the ideal Guest Ranch for fishermen and their families. While some of your family is out riding and fishing, they will take care of the rest of the family. Activities available include guided trail rides, swimming pool, pool volleyball, pool table, ping-pong table, horseshoe pit, archery, whitewater rafting, hiking, ranch activities for the whole family, shopping, and golf. Whether you are looking for a day filled with activities or a day of doing nothing at all, they have the perfect get-away for you.

At River Ridge you can ride a gentle, obedient and experienced trail horse on their level to easy-rolling pasture, follow their South River Trail, climb to First and Second Mesas, visit Frog Spring or take a half-day ride way up on Lumreau Mountain. The views from the top are spectacular and the deer and birds just don't seem to run away when you're on a horse! The owner and operator of Balch Park Pack Station, has over twenty years experience as a guide, packer and backcountry horseman.

This guy and his string of 20 experienced horses can provide you and a friend or a group up to ten with the thrill of seeing the beautiful Sierra foothills from "up high". There's nothing quite like the feeling and view of the scenery you get when you're on horseback. Rates begin at $60 per person for a 2-hour ride. They provide everything. Just bring yourself.

River Ridge Ranch Horseback Riding is in Tulare County, a short drive into the Sierra foothills from most of the Southern San Joaquin Valley from Bakersfield to Fresno including Exeter, Lindsay, Visalia, Dinuba, Hanford, Kingsburg, Lemore, Delano, Turlock, Tulare, and Selma. The ranch is just minutes from Springville and Porterville.
